SUNDAY SCHOOL - 9:30am
WORSHIP SERVICE SUNDAYS - 11:00am
For over 125 years, First Presbyterian Church has been serving the town of Waskom, TX and the Shreveport metropolitan area. From its first meeting under an oak tree in 1888 to the present time, FPC Waskom has faithfully cared for the souls of its people while providing a winsome witness for Christ in the community. Over the years there have been countless lives touched as the mercy of God has kept this ministry alive. There were building projects that seemed impossible at the time, yet God provided. There were challenges that seemed insurmountable, yet God extended his grace and loving kindness to see His people through.
And now, we look into the future with the expectant hope and excitement that God will continue to bless our church. Moving forward, we will continue to care for the souls of our members so that on that day they will be ready to be thrust into the presence of our great God and Maker. By the grace of God we will also shine the bright light of Christ in the town that we love to call home, Waskom, Texas as well as in the Shreveport metropolitan area. And we invite you to come and join us in this thrilling and fulfilling journey that we call "church."
At FPC Waskom we respect the authority of the Bible because it is God's perfect word to us and teaches us everything we need to know about living an abundant life with Him. We believe in one holy God who exists in three separate persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that people are wonderfully made in the image of God but separated from Him due to sin and justly deserve the wrath of God. We believe that Jesus, our Redeemer, fully human and fully God, faced the wrath of God on behalf of those who believe by paying the full penalty for the sins of God's children on the cross, enabling those who believe to be friends of God. At the cross the grace of God and the truth of God collide. We believe Jesus rose again on the third day, conquering death. He now reigns at the right hand of the Father as King of Kings. We believe the Holy Spirit is actively at work in people's lives, opening the eyes of believers to the truth of the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And Christ's love compels us to share the hope of the gospel in Waskom and around the world as we long for his return.
